Our story

Two GirlsPeter and Heather Caster have a beautiful daughter named Piper. Piper was born with Rett syndrome. Peter and Heather got the horrifying news of Piper’s diagnosis at the young age of 16 months. Piper began losing major skills. Piper couldn’t control her eye muscles and began to cross her eyes. She started wringing and mouthing her hands. She lost the ability to feed herself or sit up on her own. Piper never learned to walk or crawl.

Piper is now 9 years old and is confined to a wheelchair. She requires 24/7 care, and cannot talk or feed herself. She has a G-tube and has undergone double hip surgery and also has to wear a back brace for 18 hours per day.

My Pipe’s Dream is simple, to be a happy and healthy girl, who can run and play with her friends, maybe dance, or play sports, tell her mom and dad that she loves them.

Our mission

To spread awareness of Rett syndrome throughout the Kansas City area, Rett families to grow closer in community, raise money for the potential cure of Rett syndrome.

My Pipe’s dream is a non for profit charity that benefits local Kansas City Families with severe needs, especially families with special needs children. We also raise money for Reverse Rett KC and the potential cure of those living with Rett syndrome.

What is Rett?

Rett syndrome is a debilitating neurological disorder that mainly effects girls. To understand more clearly: Its like having ALS, Parkinson’s, autism, cerebral palsy, and epilepsy wrapped up in one little girl.
